At Children’s Dental Health Center, we provide the option of sedation dentistry for your child in order to offer them a calm, relaxed dental experience.
We all know the nerves that can be involved with going to the kid’s dentist, especially if you have young kids. The idea of pain, of having a tooth pulled out or having a cavity filled in, can cause very real anxiety.
The first thing we want you to understand is that dentists are here to help and take your best interests to heart. We care about your health and your comfort. Unfortunately, having a sensitive and nervous patient can make it more difficult for us to serve them properly; that is why we offer sedation dentistry.
How Does Sedation Dentistry Work?
We use Nitrous Oxide (also known as laughing gas) to distract your child while they are going through a dental procedure. It is important to be aware that this method is not used to put anyone to sleep, but simply to dull the anxiety or sensitivity of your child. This method will calm those anxious wiggles and allow us to thoroughly take care of your child.
Sedating younger children who may be overly anxious, as well as children with special needs, may require us to go to Memorial Surgery Center and perform dentistry under general anesthesia that is offered by an anesthesiologist.
